Rangers vs. Flyers Recap 4/2/2017

The Rangers win 4-3 vs the Flyers last night

In the first period the game was fairly even, although the Flyers had the edge in shots it seemed like the Rangers had the better chances. The scoring didn’t start untill the second period when Filppula scored just 33 seconds into the period. Shorty after Zibanejad was able to score a power play goal 3:57 into the second. about 4 minutes later Smith was able to get his first goal as a Ranger off of a gorgeous pass by Zuccarello, not to downplay how nice Smiths backhand move was to finish the goal.  Not much happened until about halfway through the third period where Lindberg was able to find the net. Shortly after that Kreider scored a nice deflection goal off of a Stepan shot. Late in the third the Rangers fell apart and let in two quick goals by Schenn and Filppula. After that tho the Rangers and Hank stood their ground and won the game 4-3, eliminating the Flyers from playoff contention.

The Rangers played very well through out the middle chunk of this game showing their firepower, putting up 4 goals fairly quick.  They still seem to struggle to have a quick start and finish though, as they almost blew the 4-1 lead late in the third.  Zuccarello is nothing short of out MVP this year. After his 3 assist night tonight he has 44 assists on the season.  Speaking of Zuccarello assists, Smith scored his first goal as a Ranger tonight and it was a beautiful goal off of a slick backhand move.  Hank had several nice saves tonight and other then that late third period breakdown by the team, he may be regaining his mid season form (Knock on wood).  Good game tonight by the Rangers, Lets keep this going and start performing at the Garden. See ya next year Flyers.
