Rangers vs. Islanders Recap 3/22/2017

The Rangers lose to the Islanders 3-2.

The first period tonight was all back and forth. Both goaltenders were sharp. In the beginning of the second period Zibanejad was able to feed a pretty pass from his knees across the crease to Zuccarello to make it 1-0 . Shortly after that Lee answered, and was able to get one past Raanta to tie the game 1-1. Then Nash had a beautiful goal on a nice move around the Islanders defenseman to put one past Greiss while falling to the ice to make it 2-1. Then in the third period Kulemin was able to tie the game 2-2 for the Islanders. Unfortunately, after that Ladd was able to score another for the Islanders to give them the final score of  3-2. Nash’s goal was a beauty tonight and hopefully this is the start of Nash converting on the great chances he creates each night. You could tell the Islanders were a little more desperate tonight playing for a playoff spot against the Rangers which probably led to the Islanders win. To be honest though the Rangers could have easily won this one, we continue to miss grade A chances all too often. We can’t afford to keep missing good chances especially in these tight games. Tanner Glass had a nice fight tonight that might have given a little boost in momentum. Nash scored shortly after the fight, but I’m not going say the fight is the for sure reason for that, it was a one man play by Nash. Although, I’ll never get sick of watching Tanner throw down the Gloves. Unfortunately the Rangers still continue to lose at home, even though we dominate on the road. Come playoff time we need to be playing better when we have the luxury of being on home ice. It was a fun game to watch, but the Rangers lose another one. No blue shirt likes to lose against the Isles and I’m sure this one stings.
