Rangers vs. Wild Recap 3/18/2017

The Rangers win 3-2 tonight against the Wild.

In the first period the Rangers came out slow and the Wild had complete control of the game. Eric Staal scored about half way through the first for the Wild and they take the lead 1-0. Late in the first Skjei was able to blast a slap shot past Dubnyk to tie the game 1-1. In the second period the Wild still had the puck majority of the time but the Rangers were able to capitalize on their limited chances. Lindberg scored a nice goal in front, off of a pretty play by Miller to get the puck in front. Vesey scored another to make it 3-1. It was a back and forth game until the end of the second. In the third Dumba was able to score for the Wild to make it 3-2. There was more back and forth play, and in the end and the Rangers got the win.

Rannta had a great game as always for the Rangers. He’s 11-2 on the road after this game. Vesey was able to end his 14 game goal slump to score the game winner tonight. Skjei continues his solid play and picked up a goal in front of his hometown crowd (I’m sure this one felt good). Smith made several strong defensive plays in his own end tonight to protect Rannta from grade A scoring chances for the other team. To be blunt about tonight’s game, the Rangers were lucky to win this one as they came out flat and were letting the Wild control the game for majority of the game. With that aside the Rangers continue to be the best road team in the NHL. They need some of that at the Garden from now on. Way to squeeze out the win tonight boys.
